Item PROJ - Project directions for the GardenView/OceanView design and the Four Diamond Design. These two project directions were left out of my book "Pieced Roman Shades - Turn Your Favorite Quilt Patterns into Window Hangings" because of page limitations. These are two of my favorite designs for Roman Shades.

GardenView/OceanView Project Directions This I my own version of a watercolor quilt. It is a very simple and fast technique for getting a “view” in fabric. The basic block is a square turned on point. The block is made from one fabric or strip-pieced out of two to four fabrics. A one-half inch contrasting lattice looks like the leading on a window. The appearance of the finished shade is of looking through cloudy glass into a garden, or an ocean, or a mountain range.

Four Diamond Project Directions The cover of my book has a wonderful photograph of four shades with the Four Diamond pattern. This classic block is usually seen in the border of a quilt. Since it is rectangular, rather than square, it works perfectly on a window.
