Cord Drop - White Metal Imperfections

CDMWNicksboth.jpg
I was so excited when I found a replacement for the small weighted cord drop (Item CDS). This item was discontinued by my supplier three years ago. Another supplier came up with an all metal drop that is the same size and weight. It is painted white. That seems to be the problem. The manufacturer is great at metal fabrication, but not at painting.

This section explains how to repair paint nicks on your white metal cord drop.

This photograph shows the bottom of the white metal cord drop. You can see the two areas where the drop was held for painting. Every one of the drops has these marks. You can't see them when the cord is hanging, unless you lay on the floor and look up at the shade. I'm not particularly happy with this artifact, but I can live with it.

The other flaw can be seen on the right edge in the photograph. That one really bothers me. It is noticable when the cord is hanging.

An easy fix is to cover the defects using White Out. This is readily available in an office supply store. In fact, I purchased this bottle in the school supply area of my grocery store. I used the larger sponge applicator.
CDMWhiteDone This photograph shows the same cord drop that I photographed above. The White Out covered the flaws.

You are probably wondering why we don't just repair all of the drops that are nicked.  Frankly, we just aren't set up to do this repair on a cost-effective basis. So we are going to offer a discount for these units and work with the manufacturer to solve the problem.
