Cordless Roman Shade

CordlessUp.jpg
Pat Harper of Wisconsin developed a technique to make a cordless Roman shade using ribbons. She sent photographs and a brief description of her method.

This simple cordless Roman shade works well in a small accessible window.
Pat explains: "I have developed a technique for making Roman shades without cords and without making holes in the windows. I used Velcro with one sticky side, applying the sticky hook side to the window and sewing the soft loop side to the shade. I attached the shade to the window, then pulled down one corner at a time and put two pieces of contrasting ribbon behind the shade. To raise the shade, I fold it up and tie it in place. Very very easy and I think they look great. The ribbons can be removed when the curtains are down."

This technique would work well on a small window that is accessible. Obviously you have to be able to reach the top of the shade so you can tie the shade up. I have a feeling that Pat was really interested in not making holes in her beautiful window trim. She couldn't attach any hardware, so she came up with this ingenious idea.
