Sandy was kind enough to send me these photographs of the pieced Roman shade she made along with this message:
I used your book and ordered our supplies from you in September of 2008. I hung this first shade in the kitchen of my daughter's new home in Tampa, Florida on Thanksgiving 2008. It is the Oriental Delight design in browns, blues and yellow with an orange center. The shade turned out beautifully, as you can see from the photographs.

The kitchen shade is shown lowered in this photograph. Directions for this pattern are given in my book Pieced Roman Shades – Turn Your Favorite Quilt Patterns into Window Hangings. It is made up of log cabin blocks placed on point. I thought it resembled an oriental rug, which explains the name. Sandy used an inside mount on an untrimmed window. This keeps the shade out of the way and provides great insulation. |
