This living room is in a home featured in the 1995 Metro-Denver Parade of Homes. The home wone the Grand Prize Award presented by Colorado Homes & Lifestyles magazine. Interior design was by Jaime Cummings and Lynn Shannon. This was my first Denver Show Home since I moved to Colorado in 1995.

The bay windows are a variation on a Palladian window. The large center shade is 58" wide and 60" long. The two side shades are 22" wide and 60" long. The remaining windows on the other wall were "dressed" with valances that are 29" wide and 12" long.

The center shade uses an interesting array of the log cabin block placed on point with each block made from different fabrics. The colors are in the same family (sage green and mustard yellow), however the tones deepen as you move into the center of the design. The two narrow windows have a single column of blocks in the light colored fabrics.

The center of the log cabin block is a great cranberry color that matches the side chair in the room. Making half of the log cabin fabric closely match the background fabric and placing the blocks on-point gives a contemporary look to a traditional quilt pattern. This was a fun project and Lynn and Jaime were great to work with.
