Banded Self-Valance Shade

Brenda send these photographs of a wonderful shade with this message: "Great service and I loved your instructions for making a Roman shade. I have never attempted Roman shades before, but with your great instructions and supplies, I will certainly do it again. I am attaching pictures of the Roman shade and valance I recently made for my grandson's bathroom."

Brenda wrote: "Due to the fact that I am making these in Arkansas and taking the finished project to Texas and the fact that it is too hot in the garage to keep taking the project out and doing a trial fit, I came up with a way to hang it from a shelf between the kitchen and dining room." Note from Terrell: I came up with a similar scheme to test the shades I make for clients. I hate to show up at someone's home without testing their shades first..

StarkeyBackSide

This photograph shows the back of Brenda's shade when it is pulled all of the way up. She made the valance long enough to completely hide the shade when raised. You don't have to make the valance that long if you like the look of the shade hanging down.

You can read out how to make the mounting board in the FAQs section Self-Valance Shade
