Attach Cord Shroud to Mounting Board
Mark the center of the mounting board and the center of the board. I use a pencil and make a mark on the Velcro. You will use these marks to line up the shade and mounting board when you mate them together. Now lay the shade wrong side up so that the top of the shade is flat and square. If you have a large shade, you can fold the bottom part of the shade. You want the top row of lift rings, with the shroud attached, up to the top of the shade to lie flat. Lay the shrouds so that they extend straight up from the top row of lift rings past the top of the shade. Using masking tape, tape the shrouds to the work surface.
You will attach the shade to the mounting board and then staple the cord shroud to the back of the board.

This photograph shows a shade with three lift cords. The top of the shade is at the lower part of the photograph. Each shroud is taped to the work surface and extends straight down from the last lift ring. |
Place the mounting board on the shade by mating the hook and loop fastener. Use the edges and center marks. Don't pull the shroud off of the work surface. If you have to unmate the Velcro to re-align the shade, hold firmly onto the shade so that it doesn't move.

This photograph shows the mounting board correctly mated to the shade. The shroud extends approximately in the center of the flat pulley out the top of the shade. |
Wrap the shroud around to the back of the board. Attach it using two staples. If necessary, use a hammer to firmly drive the staples into the board. You do not want the shroud to come off. |
Cut the shroud off just below the second staple. It is hard to see the shroud in this photograph. The board is still upside down. The end of the shroud is near the tip of the scissors, between the flat pulley and staple. |
I have pulled the shade back from one side so that you can see the shroud passing in front of the flat pulley and up over the top of the board. You will pull the shade away from one side of the board when you are mounting your shade. The Velcro will hold the other side of the shade to the board. |
Now you are ready to string your shade with the lift cord.
