Ellen
sent me photographs of three shades she made. The photograph above was
the first one she did. It was for her older son's bedroom. She made
decorative tucks in the front of the shade. Then she went to Home Depot
and looked for something to put into the tucks. She ended up using
screen molding, which is exactly what I use in the top of my Top-Down
shade (and which I sell on-line in the Top-Down
Hardware Shopping section). When a little sister arrived and took
over the bedroom, Ellen changed the top header to a floral print to make
it more "girly". It is shown below.
Ellen
says of the blue shade shown below: "The blue shade is rather
plain, but I was just happy to get that one done since I had two little
boys and was pregnant with Number 3."
As
the photograph below shows, Ellen has really gotten into Roman shades.
Her third shade is shown below. "The one with the ocean animals
was done using batik material and then I designed and painted the ocean
animals on -- also put on a ribbon kept for some 3-D effect. The little
boy in the pic is on of my sons -- the shade is in his room."
Ellen
is now working on a top-down/bottom-up Hobbled shade. I'm hoping she
will send photos when she is done with her latest creation.
