I received this wonderful e-mail message from Loretta, which I am including verbatim:

"I wanted to let you know that I received the supplies and have completed my project. I was very pleased with all of the hardware and supplies and also the advice you gave me about how to place the battens. I have enjoyed your book and the inspiration for creativity. I am attaching pictures of my finished product. I know what I could have done better, but all-in-all, I'm pleased with my first project. I have two windows in my bedroom with one a little wider than the other."

"The main fabric I used was the Cabbage Rose collection from "In the Beginning Fabrics". The quilted portion was an adaptation of a Winter Twilight pattern from Jan/Feb 02 Quiltmaker Magazine. In addition to the window treatments, I machine-quilted a comforter for the bed, made two quilted pillow covers, and bed pillow covers. The best part is I used almost all of the fabric that I had no idea what it was to become when I bought it."

Loretta made her Roman shades with one fabric, and pieced a valance to go over the tops. She used plastic battens and pulleys so that they fold perfectly when raised.
