Frank Lloyd Wright Shades
Copyright 2007 - Elizabeth DeNoble, Plains, Montana

Elizabeth's latest shades are stunning. She used patterns from Jackie Robinson's book, Quilts in the Tradition of Frank Lloyd Wright.

The largest center windows are 52" wide and 96" long.

Elizabeth writes: Dear Terrell, These are views of the shades in my living room. The patterns used are from Jackie Robinson's book, Quilts in the Tradition of Frank Lloyd Wright. I want to make all of the designs her book. All of these shades were made in two and one-half months as I wanted to finish them before lots of company arrived for my husband's 70th surprise birthday party. I did it. The shades make such a valuable addition in summer by keeping heat out in the middle of the day. Even with the big windows, the temperature never got above 75-degrees on 100-degree days. During the winter we are protected from freezing weather at night. When I open the shades in the morning, the cold air seems to fall on me, so I let the shades back down. It is like living in an art gallery. Many friends make that comment also. I just love them.

Elizabeth continues: The colors used in the piecing are difficult to see. The background Moda batik is a soft olive green, the "stain glass" pieces are shades of green and the "leading" is black. The largest center windows are 52" by 96".

Thank you, Elizabeth, for sending me photographs so your latest shades.
