A Crash Course in Pieced Roman Shades

Full-Day Workshop

Learn how to make a pieced Roman shade, a cross between a pieced wall hanging and a Roman shade. This is the class for you if you have seen Terrell’s book "Pieced Roman Shades – Turn Your Favorite Quilt Patterns into Window Hangings", but have not felt confidant enough to cover one of your windows. Make a small (18" by 26") pieced shade in class using a kit provided by the instructor. Learn how to measure your windows, decide on a quilt design and lay out your own patterns on windows as large as 12-feet. Kit includes fabrics, lining material and all hardware necessary to make a working Roman shade. Kit Fee: $35.

Half-Day Workshop

Wow your friends and design your own pieced Roman shade, a cross between a pieced wall hanging and a Roman shade. Come with window measurements and spend the class laying out a quilt pattern that you will turn into a shade. Leave class with a colored drawing and a list of all fabric and hardware requirements. Instruction includes tips on covering multiple windows, how to choose a quilt pattern and practice in determining the proper block size to assure that your shades fold up perfectly. Terrell, who is the author of the book "Pieced Roman Shades – Turn Your Favorite Quilt Patterns into Window Hangings", will share her years of experience in making shades for every conceivable type of décor and window style.

Full-Day Workshop

Learn how to design a GardenView or OceanView pieced Roman shade. Students will lay out blocks to fit their own window size and design a "view", Terrell will demonstrate practicing the easy strip-piecing construction technique and how to make the shade. Leave class with a colored sketch for your own GardenView pieced shade and a list of all fabric and hardware requirements. (Note that this also makes a beautiful wall hanging.)

Windows with a Photo View
Advanced Beginner to Expert/Machine
Two-Day Workshop

Learn how to design and make a photo-view pieced Roman shade. Using a photo or an aspen grove provided by the Instructor, learn how to create a straight-piecing design. After enlarging your pattern, make freezer-paper templates and sew your fabrics into a beautiful pieced top. You will also learn how to use your own photos to create picture-pieced designs. (Note that this also makes a beautiful wall hanging.)

 

 

 

 

Quick-and-Easy Batik Bamboo Window Valanc|

One-Day Workshop

Use freezer paper templates to accurately sew a beautiful top treatment for any size window. You make the pieced fabric front, Terrell demonstrates how to make the valance and attach to your window. Using a pattern provided by the Instructor (175-inches long by 24 -inches wide), you pick a portion that will give you the correct size for your own window. Then trace the pattern on freezer-paper, iron on to fabric and cut out the pieces with added ¼-inch seams.
