Stiffener Board Detail [Item SB] 3/4" screen molding, used in the top pocket of a Top-Down shade. Lengths up to 5-feet. You may request a sample of this item.
3-ft length dimensions: 1/4" by 3/4" by 36" 4-ft length dimensions: 1/4" by 3/4" by 48" 5-ft length dimensions: 1/4" by 3/4" by 60" The purpose of this small, flat board is to keep the top edge of your Top-Down shade straight and level as it is lowered. It is lightweight, yet rigid. Easily cut to any length using a hand saw. You can request that this item be cut to size. Just purchase a long enough board and then in the Comment section of the Shopping Cart note the size you want the board cut. For example, if you need a board that is 32-7/8" long, purchase a 3-ft board (36") and in the Custom Cutting Directions box specify: Cut board to 32-7/8". There is no charge for this service. If you are making your shade using our online directions, your Stiffener Board should be cut 1/2" SHORTER than your Finished Shade Width. This way it will fit into the top pocket correctly. Five feet (60") is the longest length that I can ship. You can find screen molding in longer lengths than 5-ft. Try your local home repair store, such as Home Depot or Lowes, or a local hardware store such as TrueValue or Ace Hardware. It usually comes in pine in 12-ft lengths. You can purchase any number of feet if you are willing to find someone in the store to cut it. Roll the board over on the floor to make sure that it is straight. As of June 14, 2007, we can no longer ship 4-ft and 5-ft items to Canada due to the new postal service international shipping regulations. The maximum package length is 42". Since we need an inch on each end for the metal tube end-stops, that means that the longest stiffener board we can ship is 40".
