Use our Hardware Calculator to determine the number of lift rings required for your Classic Roman shade, Top-Down/Bottom-Up shade or Top-Down Only Roman shade.

Free instructions on how to make your own Roman shade are available in the How To Section.

We are your specialists for making Roman shades, buying Roman shade hardware and learning how to make Roman shades, whether Classic flat shades or top down bottom up shades.

Lift Ring Detail [Item LR] - Plastic
These Sew-On plastic rings are the best available. Note that this item earns Terrell's flawless use Award.

You may request a sample of this item. This item does not qualify for quantity discounts because it is so tedious to count.

3/8" Inner Diameter, 5/8" Outer Diameter

Available in white and beige (bone).

Will not become brittle and break from sun exposure
Will not melt even if touched by a hot iron
   High abrasion resistance

Note that the Hardware Calculator gives you the EXACT number of lift rings you need for one shade. You may want to add 2-3 rings to that quantity in case you drop one down the heat register (don't ask).

Lift Ring Detail [Item LRM] - Metal

These Sew-On brass-plated metal rings are appropriate when the BACK of your shade is colored (not white or beige). They are very small, but also very strong. The small size means they will be barely visible when the shade is viewed from the back. Remember that only one lift cord goes through each lift ring, so small is fine.

3/8" Inner Diameter, 1/2" Outer Diameter

You may request a sample of this item. This item does not qualify for quantity discounts because it is so tedious to count.

A Comment on Lift Ring Tape
I am often asked why I don't sell lift ring tape. This is a twill tape with rings already sewn on. Many readers think that this will save them time. I personally don't like the stuff. I have experimented with it but have never used it on a Roman shade. What I DON'T like:

Your fold depth is determined by the spacing of the rings on the tape, not by what would look best for your own window.
The spacing of the lift rings are quite close together. A 5" spacing means that your fold depth will be 2.5". A 6" spacing means that your fold depth will be 3".
You have to carefully mark vertical lines on your shade and sew both sides of the tape onto your fabric. I found this to be very difficult and I didn't like the columns of stitches.
