Rod Splice Detail [Item RSP]
Use this brass-plated splice to join two rods together for your wide shades. Note that this item earns Terrell's flawless use Award. rod splice

3-inches in length.

To join two rods:
Steel rods: firmly insert the ends of two rods into splice. Measure the required length of the finished weight rod and cut the end of one rod to that measurement.
Aluminum Rods: use masking tape on one end of each rod before inserting into splice to get a secure fit. Measure the required length of the finished weight rod and cut the end of one rod to that measurement.

The Rod Splices are distributed by the same supplier as the steel rods. The steel rods are slightly smaller than 3/8" in diameter and fit perfectly into the rod splice. A 3/8" aluminum rod won't fit into the splice. I actually purchase 5/16" diameter aluminum rods, which fit into the rod splice but are a little loose. You need to use masking tape as noted above so that your two rods don't inadvertently pull apart.

If you purchase your weight rod from another source please note that this splice WILL NOT WORK unless your rod is at least 1/32" SMALLER THAN 3/8" in diameter.
