Use our Hardware Calculator to determine the number of Flat Pulleys required for your Classic Roman shade, Top-Down/Bottom-Up shade or Top-Down Only Roman shade. Then substitute the same number of Screw Eyes for the Flat Pulleys.

Free instructions on how to make your own Roman shade are available in the How To Section.

We are your specialists for making Roman shades, buying Roman shade hardware and learning how to make Roman shades, whether Classic flat shades or top down bottom up shades.

Screw Eye Detail [Item SEM]
A low cost solution for your headrail. In the spirit of offering everything needed to make your own Roman shade, you can purchase this item. If you have read almost any part of my directions, you know that I never use this product, but ALWAYS use a simple flat pulley [Item PF] to direct the lift lines at the top of the shade. Note the one exception to this is when you are making a Top-Down Only Shade. You will be using these screw eyes for your Guide Lines.

fully closed eye so cords won't snag.

inside diameter:  5/16"

Steel with zinc plating

#8 threads

smooth surface inside eye, will not wear cords

Advantage of using Screw Eyes ($0.20 each): less expensive than a Flat Pulley ($1.65 each).

Disadvantage of using Screw Eyes: Even though the inside surface of these screw eyes are smooth, you still have a great deal of rubbing friction when the shade is operated. There is no comparison between the operational ease of a shade using pulleys versus a shade using screw eyes. I spend a lot of time making my shades and think $10 more in hardware to assure flawless operation is well worth it.
